Pancreatitis – a disease at which there is a pancreas inflammation therefore its functioning is broken. The pancreas is behind and slightly lower than a stomach. Its main function – production of the pancreatic juice necessary for digestion of food. Therefore at pancreatitis digestion process first of all is broken. In a current form pancreatitis can be sharp and chronic. At sharp pancreatitis there are strong, even intolerable, pains in a stomach, and the patient should be hospitalized; in a chronic form the illness can progress for years.
